WALLER CREEK POP-UP PICNIC
Work Categories: Installations
LOCATION: Austin, TX
Commissioned by the Waller Creek Conservancy to design and build an installation for the April 2013 Pop-Up Picnic. Jack’s original proposal was a 150′ diameter geo-desic sphere made from scaffolding parts — that was probably going to cost too much. The next iteration was a simple campfire. Once it was clear that the City of Austin was not going to support the campfire concept, the idea of a “virtual” — or even “structural” — campfire emerged.
Adventurer Spence Kellum was critical to the design and the math.
