While Jack was away in Seale, AL for Doonanny 2012, the rest of the DBA crew made sure everything at home base continued to run smoothly. As the ACVB trailer left the yard, we hit the Tito’s ACL Live Mezzanine Bar really hard!  200 bottles of Tito’s, LED lights, custom guitar cases, and a reclaimed heart pine wood wrap to tie it all together.  When we showed up to do the install in hard hats and reflective vests, we were reminded that we “have to be finished by 5PM for a MAJOR event”.  Thanks to my friends at the Austin Film Society, I had to be finished by 5PM so I could go home and get … Keep Reading→

The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) “Airstream” is out working the crowd at the SXSW. Two weeks to get this Airstream to the airport.

We are lucky to have been working since January 1 on the demolition, design, build, adventure of a 1976 Airstream Sovereign for the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau.  The trailer will debut at the airport on March 8, then move to SXSW Interactive, then another venue for SXSW Film / Music / Gear, and then settles down at Spillar Welding for new electric braking and hitch.

We just started work on the Austin Convention and Visitor Bureau’s “Airstream”.  This 1975 Airstream will be set up and ready to go for SXSW in March so we have got a lot of work to do.  Austin musicians Dan Dyer and Jesse Ebaugh (Heartless Bastards) were on the demolition team, and the rest of the DBA team – Greg Tenenbown, Philip Burkhardt, Aldolfo Moreno and Adrian Larriva have been hard at work on the design, budget, and construction plan.   ACVB provided us with a handy “BirdCam” (time lapse camera) … Keep Reading→

Camp Design Build Adventure’s Winter Furniture Workshop was Dec 15-22 in Marfa, Texas. Hosted by our friends at El Cosmico, this workshop’s exercise was called “Cowboy Junkyard Chairs” and I was blown away by the amazing work of our participants – not to mention the support we got from our partners (Austin Farmhouse Delivery and West Texas Food Bank) and our friends in Marfa (Nick Terry, Peter Stanley, Sam Schonzeit, Molly Walker, Ross Cashiola, more).
