Design Build Adventure sad to lose Erik Mahan

Erik Mahan

8 weeks ago I was contacted by a young man (recent UT Austin grad) that wanted to develop his construction skills with Design Build Adventure before heading to Cambodia with the United States Peace Corps. Despite his inability to operate a cordless drill upon arrival, he showed great Adventure potential both with his upcoming commitment to the Peace Corps, and his affection for lengua tacos …

In just 8 short weeks, Erik overcame his cordless drill issues and actually developed intoa pretty skilled metal worker.  He can cut steel, grind steel, brush steel, clamp it, drill it, carry it, and paint it.  He even welded a little bit (see new Mohawk doors).  He only cut himself once and
I think it was with a flat head screwdriver opening a paint can.  He took the bus to work, and was paid a very modest stipend plus as many lengua tacos or Arkie’s chicken fried steaks as he could eat.

Today was Erik’s last day … and he will be greatly missed. Cambodia, put him work! We are also now searching to fill his position at Design Build Adventure. We offer a variety of internship and apprenticeship opportunities. Contact me.
