art installations / that will also serve as their "shelters"   / / / at the 5th Annual

EL COSMICO
TRANS PECOS FESTIVAL OF MUSIC AND LOVE
www.elcosmico.com

The music line up is Hacienda, Girl in a Coma, Amy Cook, Heartless Bastards,
and some other special guests .   Register now .

Also , I was given a wonderful opportunity to "test" some APC jeans from Bows and Arrows
on South Lamar.   Our good friend, Lauren , in addition to running the show at Bows and Arrows ,
also curates a great blog called "Arrow and Arrow" - where we will document the life
and adventures of some APC New Standards ///

I promise not to "pull any punches" , and treat these jeans like the rest of them -
however , I have also agreed to go as long as I can without washing them ...

SKYLINE HOUSE MARFA (w/ THOUGHTBARN)

http://www.thoughtbarn.us/#mi=2&pt=1&pi=10000&s=0&p=1&a=0&at=0

A few years ago, Robert Gay's THOUGHTBARN / and Design Build
Adventure began work on the design of a pair of houses on a single
lot on Dallas Street in Marfa.

Though construction has not begun on the two houses /
We have worked closely with the clients to help them begin to
enjoy their land -

We installed a new Airstream trailer with electrcity and plumbing,
then built a retaining wall of plate steel , a new oil pipe and V-wire fence -

and most recently , began work on "SHADE" .

This shed will serve as storage for bikes, grills, chairs and other items
that are currently stored in the Airstream when the clients are away -

but it will also serve as a "mock-up" wall to test ideas for the house ,

and it's most important use - Shade for the outdoor kitchen,  shade for out door dining,
and shade for the outside bar -

Stay tuned / Watch it grow .

GEO DOME WITH O2 TREEHOUSES / TAYLOR TEXAS

Design Build Adventure loaded up , and hit the Toll Road in July -

for a great opportunity to work with O2 Treehouses on their
Taylor, Texas effort -  - - "geo-tree house"  -

The project was commissioned by Photographer Brent Humphreys
as a part of his renovation of the mid-century Zidell House ,
and leading up to the famous "Geo-Affair"  -  a party that raised
over a $1000.00 for the renovation of Taylor's Robinson Baseball Field -

I was first charged with holding the already constructed (and hanging) geo-sphere
in place with a series of "tetrahedron" bases /  (oil pipe triangle, triangle, triangle, triangle)

then constructing the floor of 1.5" angles, and expanded metal -

and the final step was to design and fabricate a ramp
of recycled oil pipe and expanded metal to get people from the
Taylor black earth into the center of the "geo" universe -

SOARING HAWK (in progress)

Design Build Adventure is collaborating with wonderful Laura Toups

to continue to design and build the Soaring Hawk Ranch.

http://soaringhawkranch.com/

Soaring Hawk Ranch is located 23 miles south of Marathon, Texas.

The nearest hardware store in an hour and half away in Alpine,
and that is if you make through the Border Patrol station

During the winter and spring of 2010, we had two "adventures"
for a total of 20 days to pour footings, and build 4 steel sheds of recycled oil stem pipe,
 and corrugated Galvalum ,
