APRIL FLASH

Crazy April!  We spent a lot of time working on our new headquarters (“Camp”) – more specifically the back porch that has already been used for morning stretches, multiple happy hours, hammock time, multiple guitar pulls, and a dinner for 16  prepared by one of Austin’s finest Rene Ortiz.  The back porch also proved to be a good place to design and critique the “Virtual Fire” sculpture that was designed by Jack and Spence Kellum for the Waller Creel Pop-Up Adventure Picnic.  Next was the first Austin “Camp Design Build Adventure: A Design Build Adventure in Heavy Metal”.  The three day workshop brought 6 strangers into our shop to design and build custom metal furniture or art to be sold at Sunday’s Cocktail Party benefitting Health Alliance for Austin Musicians. (Read about “Heavy Metal” in the New York Times). The participants (with the aid of our food and beverage sponsors, and musical guests) created some pretty bad ass “heavy metal” and raised over $2700.00 for HAAM.  In the shop we were hard at work on our steel and brass BILLY REID sign and custom brass hang bars / shelves for the new Georgetown location.  Custom furniture for Studio A and our “sandlot kitchen” clients on New York Avenue (East Austin).  The Adventure spent the last week of April in College Station working on some serious landscape edging.  Top the whole month off with Jack’s art in REFUELED Issue 11, and sometime Adventurer Taylor Tehan is on the cover.

Adventurers: Katie Ford, Jack Sanders, Spence Kellum, Adrian Larriva, Philip Burkhardt, Dan Dyer, James Rosinbaum, Adolfo Moreno, Jaime Lovell, and Daralee Fallin. Photos by the Adventurers (really good ones by Adolfo Moreno).
